Frequently asked questions & answers
Who are the teachers?

Our teachers are highly qualified educators who have years of experience in teaching foreign languages. Therefore, we can guarantee the highest quality of teaching. You can rely on our experienced teachers to help you achieve your learning goals quickly.

Are the teachers native speakers?

Our teachers are highly qualified and teach at a native speaker level. They have many years of experience in teaching their foreign language. In addition, they are very familiar with different learning techniques and modern technology. What we also appreciate about them is the passion and dedication with which they teach. This motivates & additionally challenges our students. Because nothing is more important than being motivated to learn.

What are the advantages of having one teacher?
  1. The teacher gets to know your strengths and weaknesses & can thus specifically address them.
  2. You can get to know your teacher & build mutual  trust. A trusting relationship helps you to reduce the fears of speaking. Trust is an important factor, as it helps you find the courage to speak freely.
  3. The teacher offers you flexibility ensuring that the topics you cover are relevant to your interests and needs.
Does the teacher rotation take place?

The rotation of teachers does not take place in your lessons. Years of practice showed that students make faster and more lasting progress when learning with one teacher rather than with a couple rotating ones. We also know that learning is hardly possible without a trusting student-teacher relationship. Many of our language learners stress that they have enormous fears about speaking. These fears can only be reduced in a positive atmosphere where trust is established.

How do I get to know different pronunciation variations when I have only one teacher?

Our heart’s desire is that you come into contact with a range of authentic pronunciation variations. That’s why we like to use podcasts, videos and audio files in our lessons – this allows you to train your listening skills in the foreign language you are learning. The fact that there is no rotation of teachers allows you to focus on language acquisition & avoid potential misunderstandings in communication.

What teaching materials are used?

To help you learn a foreign language as intensively as possible, we use a wide range of teaching materials: textbooks, worksheets, videos, audio files & podcasts. Our aim is to train both productive (oral & written expression) and receptive skills (listening & reading comprehension) in equal measure. The teaching materials are adapted to your learning level & interests and will be made available to you. So you can always use them and learn whenever & wherever you want.

Do I need any previous knowledge?

Good news: You do not need any previous knowledge! We offer online courses at different CEFR levels: Beginners with & without previous knowledge (A1-A2), intermediate (B1-B2) and advanced (C1-C2). If you are not sure which CEFR level you are at, you can use our online language test to find out.

Do I need to take a placement test?

In order for us to support your language development and to be able to respond to your needs, we always recommend that our students take the online language test. In addition, the trial lesson gives us the opportunity to ascertain your language level and to classify you in a right way. In case you have no previous knowledge & want to learn a foreign language from the beginning, you don’t have to take the placement test.

What is the CEFR?

The CEFR stands for Common European Framework of Reference for Languages. It is an internationally recognised system that describes language skills from A1-C2. The CEFR describes what a language learner at a certain level should be able to do in different areas of a foreign language – e.g. “listening”, “reading”, “speaking”, etc. On our site you can learn more about CEFR learning levels.

How can I find out what CEFR level I have?

On our site we offer a free placement test, which we recommend you take before you start learning. This way we are all on the safe side that we offer you a suitable course. You can take the placement test for free by choosing the language you are interested in. Then you will be directed to the corresponding online placement test.

What software and hardware do I need?

All you need for our online lessons is: a good Internet connection, a computer or other device with Internet access and one of the following softwares: Skype or Discord. You can download the appropriate software from our website.

What internet speed do I need?

We recommend that you are not too far away from your access point/router during lessons. To determine the values, you can measure the current speed of your internet connection free of charge here: https://www.speedmeter.de/.
